Social Health Insurance Establishment

The Social Health Insurance project, marketed in the country as National Health Insurance (NHI), is designed to provide an agreed minimum standard of healthcare cover for all people living in Qatar.
The establishment of Social Health Insurance stems from one of the 7 core National Health Strategy goals; to provide an affordable level of quality healthcare for the population of the country.
The NHI scheme is being rolled out in stages and stage one is expected to be launched in mid 2013 providing cover for Qatari national females, 12 years onwards, for maternity, gynaecology and related healthcare issues.

As the National Health Strategy Program 2011-2016 draws to a close, project information is currently being updated and will be available in the coming weeks.

For enquiries please contact the Program Management Office at the Ministry of Public Health.
